I have been working on a recent project that involves mostly an x-acto knife and a little bit of glue and magazines. The idea is to cut various patterns and shapes into layered editorial pages, tracing existing compositions and carving out new ones. The cuts can go 10 pages deep, incorporating abstract fragments of the pages below, creating a new sort of narrative painting. The process accesses the magazine in it's original and unedited form, yet through the method of cutting and folding a new and reworked form emerges that is integral to the original.
